Y. Thaxton - Resolution of Respect on Death Whereas Almighty God, in the mysteries of his providence, has seen in His wisdom to remove from church and midst our beloved brother B. Y. Thaxton to his eternal home above: said, Whereas, We have so sorely felt the loss of our brother that we feel tit our duty to give expression to our sentiments in the following: Resolve 1, That we bow in humble submission to the will of God in this loss, and feel that our loss is his gain and that he is today enjoying the sunshine of eternal bliss and realizing the full fruition of that glory he so often spoke and sang about while he was among us. Resolved, That while we are sad in our loss over his departure, we would not call him back and do not believe he would return from his home of joy to this world of sickness, sadness and death; but we hope that when our time to bid farewell to all on earth, that we may like him say: I am going home. God be with me. I am going home. Brother Thaxton was born December 8, 1884, and died October 5, 1911, and was nearly 27 years of age. He leaves a father, mother, six brothers and four sisters, all of whom reside in Butts County. He was a consistent member of Liberty church about eleven years and a deacon four years. May God richest blessing rest on this family. May this sad bereavement be the means, in God’s hands of bringing the family, relatives and friends to a closer relation with God, whose ways are far beyond our ways. Yet we are taught that if we will only serve Him, trust Him while on earth that many joys wait us at the end of this life. Resolved That a copy of the above be spread upon our church minutes, also a copy be sent to the family of the deceased and to our county papers for publication. Respectfully submitted. Mrs. M. E.
