P. White, of Jasper County, Ga. and mother of our esteemed friend, Dr. A. F. White, of this place, passed peacefully from earthly toil and suffering, in the bright above where rest is eternal and where pain never begins. For forty-six years earth was enriched by her presence and good works, and although her personal endeavors for the uplifting of those about her have ended, while she rests from labors, her works do follow her. For thirty years she was an earnest consistent member of the Christian church and while the church militant has lost a faithful adherent the church triumphant has gained another pure spirit to join in the grand chorus of praise to him who loved them, and washed them in his own blood, and make them pure forever and forever. While her husband now eighty years of age still lingers on this side of the river, she ]who was for many years his companion here, rejoicing when he rejoiced sympathizing and encouraging when life’s burdens were heavy, stands just inside the gates of pearls and beckons with snow white hands to the home prepared, the city of light, whose builder and maker is God. Such had been her devotion to truth and right during life, that as she came to its close, having a conscience void of offense toward God and man, she said that she was prepared and ready for the great changes and was not only willing but anxious to depart and be with Christ. Wit heart all aglow with joy for the exceeding brightness of the glory that should quickly be revealed to her, she begged those about her bedside to shed no tears for her who was to exchange a place of suffering for one of joy and peace eternal in the heavens. Her children rise up and call her Blessed. While life shall last they will think of her as the tenderest friend of their childhood and the wisest consoler of life’s later days. Father and children desire to live with her again and while she has gone away from them here thank God they know where to find her and if they will but continue faithful awhile they will be joined together again some sweet day where parting words are never spoken and where sighs and tears are no more J.
