JOHN DANIEL CARTER, 1855-1935

John Daniel Carter was born August 18, 1855 in Henry Co. GA. His parents were 
Leonidas Daniel and Priscilla(Nelms)Carter. John married Lougenia(“Lou”)A. J. 
Rape in Henry Co. in March 1880. After her death in March 1908, he remarried, 
Martha Cowan in Henry Co. in January 1909. This photo may reflect that time 
period. That marriage was short-lived, however, and was said to have been 
caused by discipline differences regarding his daughter, Nettie May. John died 
December 29, 1935, and is buried beside 1st wife Lou at Sardis Baptist Church
