LAVONIA CATHERINE(WILLIAMSON)KNOWLES, 1842-1895

Lavonia C.("Katie")Williamson was born in Butts Co. GA July 4, 1842. She 
married James B. Knowles there on November 5, 1859. This unframed portrait
(approx. 8 x 10)was likely made shortly thereafter. Her parents were Nathan 
Camp and Agness(Thompson)Williamson. After her husband's death(Sept. 1865)Katie 
learned to plow, and boiled smokehouse boards for salt during early 
reconstruction. She is buried with her husband, James; son, Olen; her parents; 
and her great-grandfather, Rev. Soldier John Williamson Sr.-on that he won in 
the 1822 Lottery, in the Williamson/Knowles family cemetery in Butts Co.
