Lavonia Catherine Williamson(Knowles), 1842-1895

"Katie" Williamson was born in Butts Co. GA July 4, 1842, the oldest child of 
Nathan Camp and Agness(Thompson)Williamson. This daguerreotype was probably 
made between 1854-1857, likely after her father's death in March 1854. It is a 
typical folding portfolio, being hinged between the embossed velvet and the 
portrait. Katie married James B. Knowles in Butts Co. November 5, 1859. The 
couple lived near today’s Ellistown community in Henry Co. After James’ death, 
Katie returned-with three small sons, to the Williamson homeplace with her 
mother, land drawn by her great-grandfather, Rev. Soldier John Williamson Sr. 
in 1822. She is buried in the Williamson/Knowles family cemetery on this lot.
