GA Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/butts/photos/gph563oscarbry.jpg Image file size: 65.6 Kb Oscar Bryans Knowles was born March 16, 1861, likely in Henry Co. GA, where his father began medical practice. He was the oldest son of James Bellah and Lavonia C.(Williamson)Knowles. After his father's death in 1865, the family returned to the Williamson place in Butts Co. On December 28, 1881, he married Lanie Adaline Maddox, daughter of David and Rebecca(Hunt?)Maddox. The couple had seven children(five who reached adulthood)and spent much of their lives along Fincherville Rd. on inherited land, where Oscar built a new house about 1895(near Ingram Rd.-later the Robert Findley place). This photograph-likely an official pose-was made c.1919, when O.B. was Chief of Police in Jackson. At that time, they lived near the Jail on Oak Street. Later, he worked as a security guard at the State Capitol in Atlanta, living on Oakland Ave. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
