In an undated photo, Oscar Bryans and Lanie Adaline(Maddox)Knowles sit on the 
front porch of  "the homeplace" along Fincherville Rd. in Butts Co GA. Oscar 
was the oldest son of James Bellah and Lavonia Catherine(Williamson)Knowles. 
Lanie was the youngest child of David and Rebecca(Hunt?)Maddox. In this photo, 
Oscar appears to be holding an infant, likely a grandchild. A shadow and arm of 
the porch swing is visible at the right. This house(near Ingram Rd.-later the 
Robert Findley place)was built c.1895, and was destroyed by fire in the 1960s. 
Oscar B.("Drake")and Lanie Knowles had seven children, five of whom reached 
adulthood. They are buried in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry Co.
