GA, May 12, 1848, the oldest child of Francis and Martha F.(Mann)Moss. Sarah Ann Gray was born April 8, 1850 in Butts Co. GA. Her parents were Allen and Peletiah(O'Neal)Gray. "Ben" and his brother, Oglesby Prophet Moss(who married Sophronia Jane Gray-Sarah's sister)) met their future wives while assisting the Gray girls in crossing the South River, near Island Shoals. Sarah married Ben in Butts Co. on January 4, 1872. This photo was likely made by their daughter(who is not pictured)Otis Lemer born April 20, 1878[m.James M. Carr, April 8, 1897]. Her siblings(shown to the right of the couple)are-left to right: Dovie Cleo, born August 21, 1892[m. Harris Crumley]; Annie Belle, born March 21, 1888[m. Emmitt G. Carter]; Elvia Odesia born December 25, 1884[m. James E. English]; Cora Leigh born May 8, 1875 [m. Thomas J. Jackson]; and Asberry Francis Moss born May 14, 1881[m. Nora L. Berry]. Ben Moss served in the 3rd GA Infantry during the Civil War. He and Sarah are buried in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry Co.
