Sarah Ann(Gray)Moss was born April 8, 1850 in Butts Co. GA. Her parents were 
Allen and Peletiah(O'Neal)Gray. This retouched close-up was taken from a 
composite portrait with her husband, Stephen Benjamin Moss. This image was made 
from the better preserved of two known portraits by the Chicago Portrait Co.
(large-13" x 19" ovals-date unknown). This one passed down through the family 
of her daughter, Eliva Odesia, who married James E. English. Usually, these 
portraits were made from recent, or existing, photographs. Sarah died February 
17, 1916. The portrait could have been made after her death. The couple is 
buried in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry Co.
