Oscar Bryans Knowles(1861-1942)and Laney Adaline Maddox(1860-1951)married in 
Butts Co. on December 28, 1881. They had seven known children. Five reached 
maturity: Olin Arastus Knowles(1883-1962) m. Daisy Victoria Wilson(1884-1966); 
Rebecca Lavonia Knowles(1886-1964) m. Walter Darden Pope(1881-1964); Robert 
Clinton Knowles(b. 1889) m. Dovie Lee Jinks; Burner Trelis Knowles(1893-1966) 
m. Allie Norris; and Eva Belle Knowles(b.1895) m. Samuel S. Johnson. 
Collectively these five marriages produced twenty-seven grandchildren who 
reached adulthood. Eight grandchildren from the first three marriages are shown 
here, as well as two great grandchildren. This photo was likely made on the 
front porch steps of the O. B. Knowles homeplace on Fincherville Rd., later the 
Robert Findley place. Identification was made by several senior family members

5th Step: Vesta Louise Knowles, daughter of O. A. & Daisy Knowles; Gladys Olean 
Knowles, daughter of O. A. & Daisy Knowles; Harris Miller Pope, son of W. D. & 
Rebecca Pope; and Marvin Frank("Jack")Knowles, son of Robert C. & Dovie L. 
Knowles.

4th Step: Foster Samuel Pope, son of W. D. & Rebbeca Pope; Mary Martile 
Knowles, daughter of O. A. & Daisy Knowles; Gerald Sanders("Bill")Knowles, son 
of O. A. & Daisy Knowles.

3rd Step: Virginia Carter, daughter of Hubert A. & Sarah L.(Knowles)Carter[and 
granddaughter of O. A. and Daisy Knowles]; Rebecca Lounette Pope, daughter of 
Walter D. and Rebecca L. Pope.

2nd Step: William S. Callaway Jr., son of Wm. S. Sr. & Fannie Boyd(Pope)Callaway
[and grandson of Walter. D. & Rebecca L. Pope].
