Oscar Bryans Knowles(1860-1942)and Laney Adaline Maddox(1861-1951)married in 
Butts Co. on December 28, 1881. They had seven known children. Five reached 
maturity: Olin Arastus Knowles(1883-1962) m. Daisy Victoria Wilson(1884-1966); 
Rebecca Lavonia Knowles(1886-1964) m. Walter Darden Pope(1881-1964); Robert 
Clinton Knowles(b. 1889) m. Dovie Lee Jinks; Burner Trelis Knowles(1893-1966) 
m. Allie Norris; and Eva Belle Knowles(b.1895) m. Samuel S. Johnson. 
Collectively these five marriages produced twenty-seven grandchildren who 
reached adulthood. 

O. B. Knowles is shown here with a granddaughter, and great granddaughter. The 
photo was likely taken c.1928 on the front porch of the "homeplace" on 
Fincherville Rd.(later the Robert Findley place). On his right knee is great 
granddaughter, Virginia Carter, daughter of Hubert A. and Sarah L. Carter[who 
was the daughter of Olin A. and Daisy Knowles]. On his left knee is 
granddaughter, Betty Claire Knowles, daughter of Robert C. and Dovie L. Knowles.
