GA. Allen and Peletiah(O'Neal)Gray married in Butts Co. in November 1832. The couple were likely buried in a common grave, as their deaths were so close. Allen was the son of James(Sr.)and Elizabeth(Johnson) Gray. Peletiah was the daughter of Zachariah "O'Nail". Her given name is found spelled in various ways, though the biblical spelling was probably intended. In the Sardis Baptist Church membership records in Henry Co., she was simply- "Pelly Gray". The family cemetery is described in the will of Allen Gray. Though the landlot is not noted, Allen had purchased this portion of lot #133/8D. from his father's estate in February 1833. The new Butts Co. line had nearly bisected it in 1825(original deed in Henry Co.). There is only one other marked grave, that of a son, Levi Newton Gray. Gray Family Bible records (Georgia Archives)aided in identifying Levi's grave, as the inscription was nearly obscured. Other likely burials include: parents, James Sr.(1830) and Elizabeth(Johnson)Gray-1863; bothers, William and James(Jr.)who both died in 1857. There is evidence of 10 or 12 graves!
