Jackson News – Week of August 9, 1882
Whitehead – Colvard

Dr. Wm. H. Whitehead of Indian Spring, and Miss Matilda Lamar Colvard of Monroe
county, started out last Sunday for a buggy ride.  The doctor pressed the
subject of matrimony to a successful end by the time they reached Jackson, and a
license was secured.  Mr. Wm. Bankston was solicited to join them in the holy
bands of wedlock, which was done at the residence of Mr. Hal Byars.  They went
their way rejoicing over “how we out generated the old folks.”
