Smith - Land
Miss Eva Sassnet and Mrs. Mary Heflin, of Jackson, Georgia, announce the 
engagement of their niece, Miss Eva May Land, to Mr. Rufus Lester Smith, the 
marriage to take place the 19th of February.  Miss Land is one of the most 
admired young women in our section of the state.  Her pride of ancestry is 
inherited from a distinguished old aristocratic family of ante-bellum days.  Her 
charming personality, combined with rare musical talent, makes her quite a 
society favorite.  Mr. Smith is one of Jackson’s most esteemed citizens.  He 
comes from one of the best families of Georgia.  He is connected with the 
Pepperton Cotton Mills and is possessed of superior ability as a business man.
