The contracting parties were Mr. Steven B. Kinard and Miss Clyde McCallum, both of this city. The social prominence of the contracting parties added very much to the importance of the occasion. At 8 o’clock the bridal party entered the church and took their positions in a very unique and original manner while the strains of the wedding march filled the church. The arrangements of the attendants and others of the party was at once harmonious and systematic, and the march was most cleverly executed. The bride and groom stood beneath a beautiful canopy of Oriental design, while Rev. G. H. Carter performed the ceremony in a most impressive manner. The decorations of the church were pretty and elegant and in complete harmony with the occasion. THE RECEPTION After the ceremony at the church the guests of the occasion repaired to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carmichael, where a most elegant and sumptuous repast was served. No pains or expense seemed to have been spared in getting up this luxurious feast. The dining hall was one gay festoon of harmonious decorations. The wedding cake was exquisite. Deftly embossed upon the body of the cake was surmounted an exact likeness of the canopy beneath which the bridal couple stood. Beneath this likeness stood a miniature bride and groom. The cake was topped with a heart, on which was inscribed:” from Clyde to Stephen.” THE PRESENTS The presents were numerous and handsome. Such a rich aggregation of beautiful and costly presents has seldom been seen in Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McCallum gave a handsome upright piano, which was the most valuable present. This marriage is evidently a crowning social event and in brilliancy has not been surpassed in our city. The parties are most highly connected and we cannot say too much in their praise.
