Jackson Argus – Week of April 9, 1897
Leach – McCord

Mr. Robert Leach and Miss Bell McCord were married near Jackson some time
yesterday.   The young couple are residents of Griffin and found opposition to
their union on account of their youth.   A license was procured from the
ordinary on Friday night and they attempted to get Rev. D. J. Harris to tie the
knot, but he refused on account of the apparent youth of the couple.   The
secured a buggy and started to Jackson that night and from the best information
we can get were married as stated above.   It is said that neither of the
contracting parties are over sixteen years of age.  Griffin News
