Argus – Week of November 24, 1891 Clancy – Pettey On Wednesday night at a few minutes past 8’oclock, Mrs. S. J. Petty and Mr. J. C. Clancy of Macon, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, Rev. J. C. Solomon, officiating. The ceremony was performed in the spacious parlor of the bride’s elegant new home in Flovilla. The marriage was a very quiet one, only a few of Mrs. Petty’s best friends were present. Besides her house full of boarders, those present were: Mr. B. H. Rawls and lady; Mr. G. B. Elder and lady; Mr. J. W. Terrell and lady; Rev. J. M. Tumlin and lady; Mr. P. P. Kelly and lady; Mr. M. A. Lindsay and lady; Mr. S. L. Thomson and daughter; Miss Lilly; Mr. R. L. Allen; Mrs. A. E. Chandler of Flovilla; and Mr. Chas C. Smith of Jackson. The happy couple then took their departure for Macon which will be their future home. Flovilla is sadly the loser for Mrs. Petty was a universal favorite and was loved by all who knew her. But she goes not to a strange place, for she has a number of friends in Macon, and will serve to brighten the lives of others in her new home.
