T. Nelson of Winston North Carolina, at the Methodist church on Tuesday evening of last week. The marriage had been announced to be public and a general invitation extended to our people and before the appointed hour, seven o’clock, the spacious church was filled to overflowing. Promptly on time a phaeton appeared at the door of the church and the happy couple and their attendants alighted the marching down the aisle to the soul-stirring strains of a wedding march played by the accomplished Miss Eve Sasnett. Messrs. H. H. Harvey of Monticello, W. Allen of Mechanicsville and J. F. McKibben of Jackson were the attendants. The church was beautifully decorated with evergreens and flowers, and woven with artistic skills and hanging above the chancel were the letters N. F. initials of the contracting parties. The ceremony, by Dr. Thos. H. Simmons, pastor of the church, was beautiful and impressive and as the happy pair stood before the altar of God to take to themselves the nuptial vow the picture was beautiful. After the marriage was over and the benediction announced, the newly made man and wife quietly withdrew and repaired to the home of the bride where a sumptuous collation was in waiting. Only the near relatives and a few special friends were invited to the supper. The writer, by special invitation took supper with the bride and groom and while we know that we did our appetite justice, we are forced to confess that we cannot describe the repast in all its details. It is enough to say the table was loaded down with good things which were too numerous to mention. Of the bride too much cannot be said in her praise. She has long been known to our people and for several years has been conducting a popular millinery establishment here. Her friends can be numbered as all who know her – they are legeon. Mr. Nelson is a man of wealth, being one of the most successful business ;men of Winston N.C. and from a limited acquaintance we find him to be a gentleman in every cause of the word. For the near future they will make their home in Jackson, but later they will move to Winston to locate permanently. The Argus only expresses the voice of our whole people when we offer them our best and most healthy congratulations. May they never see a cloudy day and their pathway be always strews with flowers is our wish. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.1 Kb
