Maddox 24 Feb1896 Butts County, GA Wills Book B Pages 130 & 131 State Archives Drawer 7, Roll 555 Georgia Butts County) Last will and testament of Mrs. E.J. Maddox. Item 1: I E.J. Maddox of said state and county intending this to be my last will I hereby revoke all wills heretofore made by me. Item 2: I wish my executor as soon as possible after my death to pay my debts and desire that the same be paid out of the proceeds of only personal property and in the event that my personal property or the proceeds thereof should not be sufficient to pay my debts then in that event I will that whatever part of my debts may remain unpaid shall become a charge upon my real estate until the same is paid. Item 3: I give bequeath and devise to my husband H.R. Maddox, during his natural life the following described lands to wit: Seventy-two acres of land lying and being in the county of Butts said state 616 Dist. G.M. and bounded as follows: On the north by lands known as the Jesse T. Gunn home place, east by the lands of Thomas Kitchens. South by the lands of Dougherty and L.T. Roberts and on the west by land of L.T. Roberts with remainder to William F. Stodghill in fee. Item 4: I give bequeath and devise to William F. Stoghill the following described lands to wit: Seventy-two acres of land lying and being in the county of Butts said State 616 Dist G.M. and (bounded as follows: North by lands known as the Jesse T. Gunn home place, East by the lands of Thomas Kitchens, South by the lands of L.T. Roberts. It is my will and desire that Item four shall not be effective until after the death of my husband H.R. Maddox, the lands in items three and four being the same land. Item 5: I hereby constitute and appointment Obadiah Hendricks executor of this my last will and testament this the 24th day of February 1896. E.J.
