NOTE:  This copy is quite poor and very difficult to read.  This is not 
intended to be a full transcription.   Below is the best I could do with the 
blanks being illegible words or portions:  

I Emory M. Maddox of Butts County and State of Georgia being of sound mind and 
disposing ___________ and believing it  to be my duty as well as privilege to 
dispose of the property with which a kind providence has blessed 
______________________ (several illegible words).
2nd:  I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebbecca P. Maddux the house and 
lot of land on which it stands and part of _____________ on the creek and is 
now in the field it being (10) ten acres ______________ near the house which 
are a part of 14 ___________ also two horses  or mules as she may ________ 
cart-buggy and blacksmith tools _______
____________ (much is illegible).  
_______________ desire my son Charles W. F. Maddux ___________ plantation and 
take care of his mother as long as she _________________ (note there is 
another large portion which is illegible, but I believe I can see “my son 
James G. Maddux”; cannot tell if other names are mentioned or not and cannot 
discern date the will was written).  
	
This will was proven in the August term of 1871.
