Crumbley Miller, born near Lumpkin, Stewart County, Ga. He was the grandson of R. Lee and Mary Miller, Henry County, Ala. and Alexandria A. and Mary Crumbley of Cuthbert, Ga. When A. L. Miller was quite young his family moved to Colomokee in Early County, Georgia and there attended a country school. He then attended Bethel College at Cuthbert, Ga. for four terms. He taught school several years and then attended Mercer University Law School where he received his degree June 1905. That same year he located at Donaldsonville where he practiced law. He remained there until the fall of 1906 when he came to Edison, Ga. where he has lived since. He went into partnership with E. L. Smith, Atty. at that place. In 1916 this partnership dissolved, Mr. Smith going to Albany and he remaining at Edison. He has practiced law in Edison since that time. He joined the Baptist Church at Colomokee and was baptized by Brother J. G. Corley, the pastor. After he located at Edison, Ga. he placed his membership with the Baptist Church at Edison and became active in the church work there, especially in the Sunday School and B.Y.P.U. He organized the first B.Y.P.U. in the Baptist Church at Edison and was a leader for several years. He is now a Deacon in the Edison Church. In October 1909 when the Bethel Association met at Morgan he was elected as Moderator and has served as Moderator for twenty five years successively. On September 3, 1908 he married Miss Pansy Jones of Blakely, Ga., the daughter of William D. Jones, who died in 1905. To this union there were three children, Mary Futrelle, A. Lee, Jr. and Ruth. In 1907 he was appointed as Solicitor of the City Court of Calhoun County, Georgia and served in that capacity until about October 1909 when he resigned after being elected as a Representative of Calhoun County to the General Assembly of Georgia where he served from 1909 to 1912. In 1916 he was appointed as Judge of the City Court of Morgan, which place he held for four years. He was elected as Mayor of Edison in 1914 and served as Mayor at different periods for about twelve or thirteen years when he declined to run again. In 1925 he was elected as State Senator of the 9th District which District is composed of the Counties of Calhoun, Early and Baker. Again in 1932 he was elected as representative of Calhoun County to the General Assembly. At which time he was serving as Solicitor of the City Court of Morgan, his term expiring October 1, 1932. He was also elected as a Trustee of the Public School in Edison, Ga. and has served from 1916 to this date as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and has also been a Trustee of Norman Junior College for about fifteen years. 1930 Calhoun Co.
