It was located at the County site of Calhoun County. B. Sims was its first pastor. C. B. Holman was the Clerk. Its delegates to the Association were J. W. Shropshire and W. E. Griffin. It had twenty four members, all white and held its services on the third Sundays and Saturdays before in each month. During this same session of the Association which met at Blakely, a number of churches withdrew for the purpose of organizing a new Association, to-wit: Milford, Union, Baker County, China Grove, Mt. Oliver, Cypress Creek, Morgan, Mt. Carmel, Antioch, Hopewell, Philadelphia, Mt. Gilead, Blue Springs, Bethel, Decatur County, and Bainbridge. The Church remained out of the Bethel Association until November 3, 1866. It again made application to join the Bethel Association which that year met at Albany, Georgia and was received. The History is silent as to what Association it was connected with during the ten years it was absent from the Bethel Association. They seem to have had no pastor at the time they reunited with the Bethel Association. S. L. Foster was church clerk and resided at Morgan. A. G. Weaver and J. Kendrick were the delegates. It had a white membership of fifty and thirty four colored members, making a total of eighty four members and held services on the fourth Sundays in each month. R. A. J. Powell served as pastor 1867 and 1869. The baptisms during his pastorate were 6. From 1869 to 1873 no pastors are reported in the Minutes. Rev. J. S. Parker served as pastor 1874-1876. Baptisms, 42. W. L. Curry was pastor 1877, 1878, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884 with a total number of 42 baptisms, J. C. Bass was pastor in 1879. Baptisms, 18. W. H. Norton, pastor in 1880. No baptisms were reported that year. H. L. Crumbley was pastor in 1885, 1886, 1887, 1892, baptisms, 33. R. B. Taylor came next serving in 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1919, and 1920 with a total number of 16 baptisms reported. J. W. Morgan became pastor in 1893. Baptisms, 2. No pastors are reported for years 1894, 1895 and 1896. Z. T. Weaver was pastor in 1897 and 1898, 1899, 1901 and 1903. Baptisms, 13. W. L. Culbertson was pastor from 1904 to 1910 inclusive. Baptisms, 54. And again he was pastor in 1912 and 1913 having baptized 10 during these two years. In 1911 J. W. Watson was pastor. No baptisms. No pastor reported in 1914, 1915, and 1916. J. P. Sauls was pastor in 1917 and 1918 and baptized 17 members into the church. In 1919 R. B. Taylor was pastor. No baptisms. No report in 1920. T. M. Calloway was pastor from 1921 to 1924 and baptized 69 during these years. From 1924 to 1927 R. W. James was pastor. 7 baptisms were reported. In 1927 W. E. Waterhouse served as pastor and baptized 12 members. Paul M. Sayer was pastor from 1928 to 1930 and baptized 15. M. B. Brown served as pastor in 1930, 1931 and is still serving at present in 1932. Total number of baptisms reported are 16. The Clerks of the Morgan Baptist Church have been as follows: A. G. Weaver in 1867; J. H. Griffin in 1868; No report from 1869 to 1873; A. G. Weaver from 1873 to 1878; J. J. Beck to 1881; John Hasty to 1884; J. H. Corom to 1886; C. B. Weaver to 1915; no report in 1915 and 1916; W. B. Farrow in 1917; C. W. Davis in 1918; J. C. McClelland to 1927; W. H. Bridges to 1931; J. D. Harvey in 1931 and is still serving the Morgan Baptist Church in 1932. The Bethel Association met with the Morgan Church in 1874, 1886, and 1909. SUNDAY SCHOOL Morgan Baptist Church has held a Sunday School since 1877. Mr. John Hasty appears to have been the first Superintendent of the Sunday School from 1877 to 1882, followed by Mr. C. H. Gee to 1887; T. J. Tinsley from 1887 to 1892; J. N. Newton to 1897; J. C. Coram to 1902; John J. Beck then became Superintendent and served to 1907; M. W. Bell followed and served to 1909; . T. Rabun to 1913; C. J. Taylor to 1921; Dr. J. H. Hendry to 1923; Clarence Cheney followed and served to 1926; M. W. Branch to 1930; W. L. Bridges and P. I. Daniels have both acted as superintendents from 1930 to 1932. During all these years the church as maintained a live Sunday School and is still active in that way. B. Y. P. U. A B.Y.P.U. was organized in the church largely through the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Z. T. Rabun about the year 1922 and this organization has been active most of the time since its organization. During these years Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. McClelland have sponsored the work and been active in its undertaking. The church now has a good B.Y.P.U. W.M.S. A Woman's Missionary Society was organized in 1908. Mrs. A. K. Hawk was its leader and President in 1908 to 1911. She was followed by Mrs. T. W. Tinsley from 1911 to 1915. Mrs. Z. T. Rabun was the leader in 1916. Mrs. J. C. McClelland was leader and chairman from 1916 to 1919. Mrs. Z. T. Rabun again became leader in 1919 and continued until 1923, when Mrs. T. E. Cheney took charge and served until 1926. Mrs. B. F. Dunn became leader and President in 1926 and served until her death in 1930. Mrs. Iley Aycock became leader in 1930 and served until 1932 when Mrs. Clarence Taylor again became the leader. SUNBEAMS The Sunbeams were organized and led by Mrs. J. C. McClelland in 1931. Other leaders were Mrs. Z. T. Rabun, Mrs. T. E. Cheney, Mrs. S. Burnett, Mrs. W. Griffin and Mrs. H. T. Thornton. G.A. The G. A.'s were organized and led by Mrs. Ivan Jones in 1924 for three years. Mrs. B. F. Dunn then became the leader and served four years. Mrs. J. D. Harvey is now the Leader of the G.A.'s. Y.W.A. Mrs. G. A. Dozier organized the Y.W.A. in the year 1920. She was its leader for four years. Other leaders following her were Mrs. T. W. Tinsley, and Mrs. J. C. McClelland who is now the leader. All of these organizations have been kept up and have done good work in the church.
