She and her husband, John Edd Turner, moved from Edison, GA to Bainbridge, GA about 1925 where they raised their four children. In their declining years Ruth and John Edd moved to Green Cove Springs, FL to be near their children. Ruth passed away July 14, 1975. Obiturary Mrs. Ruth Turner, aged 80, of 530 Magnolia Avenue, Green Cove Springs, passed away in a Starke nursing home Monday evening. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, John Edd Turner; two daughters, Wynette (Mrs. Tracy) Saunders of Green Cove Springs and Jane (Mrs. A.M.) Drury, Jr., of Brunswick, Georgia; two sons, D.C. (Doc) Turner, Green Cove Springs and Wayne Turner, Orange Park 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Jones officiating, assisted by Mrs. Turner’s nephews, Bill and Nelson Weathersby. Active pallbearers were all grandsons of Mrs. Turner: Tracy Saunders, Jr., Ed Saunders, Mills Drury, Gary Drury, Ellis Drury and Terry Turner. Honorary pallbearers were Trustees: C.L. Murphy, Hugh Bonds, Carl Wells, Ronald Anderson, Willard Bland, Talmadge Stuckey and Wylie Brown; members of Mr. Turner’s Sunday School class: E.E. Batman, Chuck Bohannon, Bruce Brooker, Harmon Chesser, Thad Crossley, Frank Jones, Walter Lowe, E.E. Noble, Clarence Peeples, W.J. Atkins, Clayton Taylor, John W. Gillam, W.H. Hatcher, C.C. Wells, Sr.; and also the members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class: Vera Baxter, Evelyn Bland, Ailene Bohannon, Estelle Carter, Bonnie Clark, Vada Cameron, Marie Chesser, Lillie DeWeese, Vera Franklin, Arminda Green, Donnagene Knutsen, Grace Murphy, Trubie Smith, Etta Wagner and Annie Lee Wilber. Interment was in Hickory Grove Cemetery with Helm Funeral Home in charge.
