Assignment of Mortgage
Recorded in Gadsden County Florida

Know all men by these present that I, Alfred DOOLITTLE of
St. Mary's Georgia, have for a good and sufficient
Consideration, assigned all my rights, title and
interests in and to a mortgage given on the following
Negro Slaves now in the possession of Mrs. Mary ATWATER
of Gadsden County Florida (viz) Peter, Bosan and little
Jess, which said mortgage was indented by the late Mr.
Elihu ATWATER to secure the judgment of One Thousand and
Fifty dollars, the amount of my responsibility to the
Bank of Darian at the instruction of the said Atwater.

(Explanation by Dottie Smith: These people lived in
Camden County GA and descended from Elihu Atwater and
Col. William Scott of Camden.  Alfred Doolittle, born
1797 in Vermont, was a nephew of Elihu Atwater as well as
having married, July 22, 1824 Mary (Scott) Atwater's
sister Martha Rebecca Scott, daughters of Col. William
Scott.  Martha Rebecca Scott and Alfred Doolittle had
descendants as a Mr. Lloyd D. Knapp of Milwaukee, WI
wrote in 1971 that Alfred Doolittle was his
GrGrandfather. I need the names of these Doolittle
children.
