The slaves explained to the search party that the Creeks fled to Florida to join the Seminoles, intending to return for them at some point. Clark asks Schley's opinion of his decision to allow the men to claim the African family as "booty". repository: Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, The University of Georgia Libraries collection: Telamon Cuyler box: 50 folder: 12 document: 01 Page: [1] [ | ] St. Marys Geo. I have therefore advised the holding possession considering the property as "booty" and as clearly belonging to the Captors. I would be pleased to have you express your opinion upon the question- Respectfully remaining Your obt. Sert. [obedient Servant] [Signed] Archd [Archibald] Clark His Excellency Wm [William].
