[ultimo] informing me that you had recievd [recieved] [received] a letter from Col. [Colonel] Worth informing you that the regular troops had been with drown [withdrawn] from Georgia that he might establish a better and more economical covering line especially in reference to the Georgia border in reply to which I have to inform your Excellency that in my Judgment the regular forces are no part of protection [added: to] the Country at all, and muts [must] ask you to increase my command to one hundred men as I believe that I can amply protect the Country with that number of men and do not think that it can be amply protected with a smaller number. this number of men under one Officer will not be the expence [expense] as what two full Companies would be my wishes is to have the Georgia frontier amply protected and that with as little expence [expense] as possible, if it should meet your approbation to increase my Command to one hundred men you will please inform me what Officers will be allowed and their rank. as the number is beyond one full Company and [added: not] sufficient to complete two, in regard to my scoutings I have the honor to inform you that they are kept up regularly, and should the Indians make their appearance in this section Page: [2] [ | ] of County my operations shall be such as will convince the Government what the troops of Georgia can and will do,) in respect to the Post Office Centrevillage Post Office is the nearest and from this I shall have a regular express to there I have the honor to be Your Obt Svt [Obedient Servant] [Signed] Aaron Jernigan Charles J.
