Armstrong Jr., 79, of Woodbine died Tuesday at the Life Care Center in Hilliard, Fla. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Woodbine City Cemetery in Woodbine with the Rev. Marcelle Myers officiating. Pallbearers are Hamilton Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan Sr., Homer Sullivan, Willie Sapp, Theodore Williams, MacArthur Hill, Horace Thomas and Marlyn Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Mr. Armstrong. Surviving are his wife, Lounita Sullivan Armstrong of Woodbine; four sons, Imari Yokley of Oakland, Calif., Phillip Armstrong and Stephen Armstrong of Riverside, Calif., and Yohance Armstrong of Woodbine; three daughters, Phyllis Armstrong of Washington, D.C., Dorothy Emigh of West Point, Calif., and Ann Dixon of Colton, Calif.; one sister, Marjorie Armstrong Jackson of Chicago, Ill.; and other relatives. Mr. Armstrong graduated from DuSable High School in Chicago and attended the Chicago City College. He was a member of the Grant/AME in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, who obtained the rank of 1st Sergeant. He lived in Camden County for 21 years. He retired from the Camden County Road Department in 1987. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and a political and human rights advocate, earning the name "Godfather." Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Submitted by: Tara D.
