The Southern Recorder, July 16, 1839
General John Floyd died at his residence in Camden County on the 24th of last
month.  Thus has passed away one of Georgia's most distinguished sons.  General
Floyd commanded the Georgia troops against the Creek Indians in that conflict.

Additional Comments:
General John Floyd died at his residence, Bellevue Plantation, on Floyd's Neck
in Camden County, Georgia.  From 1820 to 1827, he was a member of the Georgia
House of Representatives.  From March 4, 1827 to March 3, 1829, he was a member
of the United States House of Representatives from Georgia.  He was honored when
Floyd County in Georgia was given his name.
