Thus has passed away one of Georgia's most distinguished sons. General Floyd commanded the Georgia troops against the Creek Indians in that conflict. Additional Comments: General John Floyd died at his residence, Bellevue Plantation, on Floyd's Neck in Camden County, Georgia. From 1820 to 1827, he was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives. From March 4, 1827 to March 3, 1829, he was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Georgia. He was honored when Floyd County in Georgia was given his name.
