Ford was born on Oct. 27, 1919 to the late Ray and Sally Ford. He received his public school education in the Camden County Schools. While he experienced many capacities in employment in his efforts to support his family, he seemed to love working in the sanitation department for the city of St. Marys until he retired. Realizing he needed the fellowship of other believers, he placed his membership at the Wheeler Street Church of God, where he worked faithfully, resulting in placement on the deacon board. It has been said that Ford was admired and respected for being very candid and outspoken in his own unique way. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gladys Ford; one daughter, Annette (Melvin) Russell; two grandchildren, Justin and India Russell of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; special nieces, Mallie Joseph of Kingsland and Carolyn Brown of St. Marys; two brothers-in-law, Bishop A.B. (Nancy) Way of St. Marys and Hezekiah Campbell of Kingsland; one sister-in-law, Bernice (George) Dean of Nashville; a godson, Felipo Williams of St. Marys; a special friend, Bill Lomnick of St. Marys; and a host of other nieces nephews and friends. Sunset Funeral Home of Kingsland was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5 at Wheeler Street Church of God in St. Marys, with Bishop Verdell Griffin Sr. officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
