"C.J." Grant Sr., 79, of Woodbine died Thursday in the Camden Medical Center in St. Marys. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. today at the Woodbine City Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Pallbearers are friends and family. Surviving are his wife, Sallie M. Rudolph Grant; six children, Catherine Stevens, Agnes L. Rudolph Mainor, Alfred Rudolph, Robert Rudolph, Charlie Grant Jr., and Priscilla Jones; his mother, Eunice R. Johnson Grant; one sister, Mamie Lee Daniels; and 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and other family. Mr. Grant was a native of Newell and attended Charlton County public schools. He harvested timber, was a longshoreman, a Seaboard Railroad railway worker and had retired in 1984 from Georgia Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator.
