The native of Friars Point, Miss., lived in Camden County the past six years. He retired from the Navy after 20 years and was a member of the Fleet Reserve. He was a supervisor with the Public Works Center at Kings Bay Submarine Base the past six years. He was a member of the Georgia Gold Coast Officials Association , receiving the award for Most Dedicated Umpire. He umpired for the school softball and baseball games in Camden and Glynn counties and tournaments at Kings Bay. SURVIVORS: his wife, Alsace Harpole of Kingsland; a son, Edward A. Harpole of Tahoe City, Calif.; two daughters, Cecilia Kay Harpole of San Leandro, Calif., and Patricia H. Laxton of Kingsland; three brothers, Henry Harpole of Dessert Spring, Conn., William Harpole of Glendale, Ariz., and George Harpole of Waukee, Iowa; three sisters, Ila Mae Harpole of Senatobia, Miss.; Sandra Hackel and Melba Harpole, both of Como, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
