H. Rhodes Held Yesterday Waverly Well Known Seaboard Conductor Dies at Jacksonville Home Egbert Henry Rhodes, 66 died at his Jacksonville home Tuesday afternoon. He had been in ill health since last November but had been in a serious condition for only a few days, following a stroke. Mr. Rhodes began his railroad career in 1892 with the Southern Florida Railway. In 1898 he went to the Florida East Coast and remained with that company until 1905. From 1905 until 1906 he was associated with the Atlantic Coast Line, and since that time until he was forced to retire last fall on account of failing health he was with Seaboard, finishing a 30 year period wit that system. He was born at Columbia Tenn., and spent his early boyhood in Hillsboro County, Florida. He was a member of the Riverside Park Methodist Church, the Masons, Royal Arch Chapter No. 15, Sanford; Olivet Commandry no. 4. Knights Templar, Orlando; Morocco Temple of which he was a life member; Stonewall Jackson Camp No. 1, K. K. K. and St. John’s Division No. 196, Order of Railway Conductors. Survivors are his wife, formerly Miss Bessie Lang of Waverly; two daughters Misses Claude Ann and Bessie A, and two sons Egbert H. and Robert L. all of Jacksonville. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Homeward Cemetery, near Waverly. Rev. T. L. Z. Bar, pastor of main Street Methodist Church Jacksonville, assisted by Rev. C. T. Lawhorne, pastor of the Waverly-White Oak Methodist Church officiated. Pallbearers were B. C. Lang, E. A. P. McCarthy, Dr. A. K. Swift, C. G. Stewart, D. M. Proctor, and J. F. Atkinson.
