Walter had died in 1898, leaving several under age children. Standing on the back row, left to right: Effie Ola Hattaway Ray, Alvin Asa Hataway, Owen Dodd Hataway, and Marion Isom Odom. Front row, left to right: Henderson Pate, young Eugene Gorman Hataway, Eliza Susan Pate Hattaway, Eliza Ann Hataway Odom holding baby Elberta Susan Odom, and toddler Walter Larry Odom. Walter and Eliza Pate Hattaway's children in the photo include Effie, Alvin, Owen, Eugene, and Eliza Hataway Odom. Henderson Pate was Eliza Susan Pate Hattaway's father; Marion Odom was the husband of Eliza Ann Hataway. Walter and Eliza Pate Hattaway's children who were NOT in the photo include Walter James Hattaway, Eulia Ann Hattaway Embry, Lacy Lane Hataway, and Carrie Hattaway Wilson Long, all of whom were married at this time.
