I, John Cook, of said state and county, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last will and testament. Item 1. I give, bequeath, and devise to my wife, Polly Ann Cook, my entire property of which I am now possessed, or may hereafter acquire, both real and perceived, should she live longer than I do. Said property to remain in her hands for her own proper use, benefit, and behoof during her natural life; and after her death said property to be equally divided between my lawful heirs after all legal demands held against are satisfied. Item 2. It is my will that my son, Robert Cook, take charge of my affairs during my lifetime, and during the lifetime of his mother, the said Polly Ann Cook, should she live longer than I do, and for his compensation, behoove all the premises, make above an adequate support. Item 3. I hereby constitute and appoint my son, Robert Cook, executor of this my last will and testament. This the 10th day of April 1886. John Cook (his mark) Signed, declared, and published by John Cook as his last will and testament in the presence of us, the subscribers, who subscrive our names hereto in the presence of said testator, at his insistence and request, and of each other, by signing in our presence and we signing in his presence. The will of John Cook, being produced in open court for probate by the executor, who has filed his petition to provate the same in solemn form, and the witnesses to said will, J. B. Smith, W. J. Duggan, and David Hattaway, having suscribed to the following affidavit, endorsed on said will February term 1893 of Campbell Court of Ordinary, come into open court at this regular term of the court. J. B. Smith, W. J. Duggan, and David Hattaway and being duly sworn depose that they saw John Cook sign and publish the within as his last will and testament, which of sound and disposing mind, that they witnessed all some for him at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, and that the same was executed voluntarily by him on the day it purports to have been executed. I, Robert Cook, do solemnly swear that this writing contians the last will of John Cook , deceased, so far as I know or believe, and that I will and duly execute the same in according with the laws of this state so help me God. Beavers, Ordinary Notes: David Hattaway's younger sister, Eliza Ann Hattaway, had married John Cook's oldest son, Luther Napoleon Bonaparte Cook, in 1869 but Eliza had died in 1877. W. J. Duggan was William Jackson Duggan, born in 1835 to Jesse Joyce Duggan and Naomi Jackson Cook. Naomi was the daughter of Nathaniel Cook of Monroe Co., GA and his wife Betsy (Jackson?).
