S. Vereen A link in the family chain of Mr. A. S. Vereen is broken. On Tuesday, Mar. 30th, 1915, Mr. A. S. Vereen passed away. He had been ill only five days with pneumonia. It can be truly said that an honest, upright man is gone; one who tried to live an honest upright life. Not only will he be missed by his immediate family, but in the neighborhood where he had lived for more than three years. He was a faithful husband and father, always at home and toiling day after day for his family. No one need ever be possessed with more energy than was Mr. Vereen. As a neighbor he was all that could be asked, assisting them in any way he could and always attending to his own affairs and never troubling the affairs of others. He seemed to take a great interest in the study of his bible and was always ready to discuss any part of scripture as he believed it. He was faithful to his church, the Latter day Saints, of which he had been a member for more than 20 years. A wife and 13 children survive him, four of whom are by a former marriage. They are: Messrs. William Vereen, Hattiesburg, Miss.; John Vereen, Beaumont, Miss., Geo. A. Vereen, Stillmore, Ga.; Mrs. Lucy Bell, -- S.C.; Chas. A. Vereen, Swainsboro, Ga.; Mrs. Susie Warren, Egypt, Ga.; Joseph Vereen, Wilmington, N. C.; Miss Effie Vereen, Beaumont, Miss.; Luther N. Vereen, Logan, Utah; Leo, Hilda, Bertha and Lola Vereen, Metter, Ga. May his children live so as to immitate his life, and prepare to meet him where sickness, sorrow and pain are unknown. -- A Friend.
