Bowen Family Cemetery Inscriptions  Carroll County, GA 

Bowen Family Cemetery

This is all of the information that can be transcribed
from the existing head stones. There are numerous graves that are 
unmarked. 

This Cemetery is on the McIntosh Reserve in Carroll County southwest of
Whitesburg, Georgia on West McIntosh Road off of Highway 5. The view of 
the Chattahoochee River is tremendous. It feels like you are walking 
back in time.

Bowen, Christopher D. born: Sept. 28, 1789 died: Oct. 18, 1845
Bowen, Elizabeth-wife died: Feb. 1, 1843

Inscription on Elizabeth Bowen Tombstone:
Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen wife of Christopher Bowen with whom she lived 34
years and 10 months without whom at that time she never gave one dying 
word. Rest in peace angelic woman. My sighs and tears cannot awake you. 
I will wait till God's appointed time, and then I will overtake you.

Bowen, Martha born: November 18, 1824 died: June 8, 1845
daughter of Richard Henry Hayes.

Inscription on Martha Bowen tombstone:
Sacred to the memory of Mrs Martha Bowen wife of William Bowen daughter
of Richard Henry Hayes born on the 18th day of November 1824 died on the
8th day of June 1845 in the 21st year of her age.

Infant Sons of Wm & S. C. Bowen was born July 31st 1848, was born Sept
23rd 1849.

The other headstones were erroded very badly and reading them was
impossible.
The listings here are the only legible ones there.
