Harper and H.T. Harper of the same place of the 2nd part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Six hundred and seveenty five dollars cash in hand paid by and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is herby acknowledged hat granted bargained, sold and doth by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Harpers all that tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the Second District of Carroll County and knonw in the plan of said District by No (113) one hundred and thirteen, containing fifty acres more or less in the South East corner of said lot together with all the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining thereto. To have and to hold said bargained premises to themselves, their heirs and assigns in fee simple and the said Samuel Ruffin and Joshua Parmer will warrant and forever defend the title thereto against themselves their heirs and assigns against the claims of all other persons whatever. In testimony whereof they have hereto unto set their hands and seals the day and year above written. S.R. Ruffin J.D. Hamilton, Notary Public ex off JP Recorded Jan 17, 1883 J.M.B. Keely, CSCCC Note: Long delay in recording. Sold 1870 Samuel Ruffin was the son of R.V.C. Ruffin. Joshua Parmer married the daughter of R.V.C. Ruffin, Sarah E. Ruffin I believe these were the only two living children able to inherit at the time of their father's death. In the 1880 Census these two families (Parmer and Ruffin) are living in Marion County near Ft. Perry.
