Civil War Pension Application
For Use of Applicants Who have Not heretofore Drawn.
STATE OF GEORGIA,
Carroll County.
    Personally appears John D. Bell of Carroll County, State of Georgia, being duly
sworn says on oath that he was born on the 5th day of April 1827, that he is a bona
fide citizen and resident of Georgia, and has been continuously all his life. That
he enlisted in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between
the states, and served as a Sergeant in company G of 41st Regiment of Georgia
Volunteers Stovalls Brigade; that whilest engaged in such military service, and in
line of duty in the State of Kentucky, on the 8th day of October, 1862, he was
disabled or wounded as follows:

By gun shot wound in the left knee, the ball bursting the knee cap which so weakens
the knee that I have to use a stick while walking, the wound in the knee was
received at the battle of Perryville, in Kentucky.
On the 22nd of July 1864, during fights around Atlanta Ga, I was wounded by a ball
striking right arm just below shoulder, breaking the bone rendering the arm
essentially and substantially useless.

Deponent desires to participate in the benefits of Act approved October 24th, 1887,
and the Acts amendatory thereof, makes application for the pension to which he is
entitled for the year thereunder, ending October 26th, 1897.
