Eady April 16, 1891 Affadavit by Widow for Pension State of Georgia, Carroll County In person came before the undersigned Ordinary in and for the County of Carroll , Mrs. E. H. Eady, who being sworn according to law says under oath that she is the widow of Allen H. Eady who as a soldier in the service of the Confederate States and served as a member of Company I of the 4th Regiment of GA Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the __ day of October 1864 and was in the Army up to 1865. That while in the Army he was wounded and captured by the enemy and that when last heard from, he was a prisoner of war at Washington, D.C. The last I ever heard of him was by a letter written by a friend of his just before the close of the war but not received by me till sometime after the surrender stating that on account of his wounds he was unable to write himself. Deponent further states that she was the wife of the deceased soldier during his term of service in the Army and that she has never married since his death; that she became his wife on the 16th of January 1851 and that she has resided continuously in Georgia; that Georgia is her home and was such on the 23rd day of Dec 1890 and since said date she has not lived in any other State or locality. Deponent as the widow of said deceased soldier husband applies for the pension provided by the Act of the General Assembly of Georgia approved Dec 23, 1890 and for the pension year ending February 15, 1892 and herewith tenders the proof of her right to receive the allowance granted by said Act. Brown, Ordinary Affidavit for Witnesses April 24, 1891 State of Georgia, County of Carroll In person came before the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, witnesses W.A. Eady, J.T. Eady, each known to the attesting officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens, who severally say under oath that from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. E.H. Eady of the County of Carroll, State of Georgia, is the widow of Allen H. Eady, who was a soldier in Company I of the __ Regiment of GA Volunteers. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate States or the Georgia State Troups on or bout the __ day of October 1864. That while is said service he lost his life as follows: He was wounded and captured by the enemy and has never returned, nor been heard from by us since, except by aletter written from Washington, D.C. to our mother Mrs. E.H. Eady, stating that he was wounded and in the hands of the enemy which letter was destroyed by fire together with all other letters received from him while in the service, in 1867 when our house and contents were burned. W.A. Eady was in his 13th year and John T. Eady was in his 11th year when their father left home in Wilkinson County, GA to enter the service and we all have lived together and near one another ever since Allen H. Eady entered the service. We further swear that Mrs. E.H. Eady was the wife of said soldier during the service and that she has not intermarried since his death and that she resides in Carroll County in the State of Georgia. Brown, Ordinary April 30, 1891 State of Georgia, County of Carroll Personally came before the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, Rev. E.B. Barrett , who was the Chaplin of the 45th Regiment GA Volunteers during the war and known to me to be a truthful, reliable and reputable citizen, who says under oath that he was the Pastor of the Baptist Church at Irwinton, GA before the war and that Allen H. Eady was a member of said church and he was intimately acquainted with said Allen H. Eady and his wife Mrs. E.H. Eady. He further swears that he saw the said Allen H. Eady in the Army in Virginia and had a long conversation with him only a short while before the said Eady ws wounded and captured and he has heard nothing from said Eady since except that he had fallen into the hands of the enemy. He further swears that Mrs. E.H. Eady was the wife of said soldier during the service and that she lives in Carroll Co. GA. E.B. Barrett. Eady of Carroll County in said State do hereby appoing S.J. Brown of Carrollton, GA as my true and lawful attorney in fact for me to receive and receipt whatever amount of money I may be entitled from the State of Georgia as a widow of a Confederate soldier as stated in the foregoing affadavits; hereby authorizing my said Attorney to receipt in my name for any warrant that may be issued by the Governor or for any sum of money which may be coming to me for the reason aforesaid. Widow's Pension for the year ending Feb 15, 1894, paid to Mrs. E.H. Eady of Carroll County. Warrant Issued 2/9/1894 and handed to S.J. Brown. January 18, 1895 Applications for Widows Heretofore Allowed Pensions State of Georgia, County of Carroll Personally comes Mrs. E. H. Eady, who being sworn says on oath that she is a bona fide resident of said County of Carroll, State of Georgia, and that she has resided in said State continuously ever since the year 1832. That she is the widow of A.H. Eady who was a soldier in Company I of the 4th Regiment of GA Volunteers. That her said soldier husband lost his life as follows: Not long before the surrender he was wounded in battle near Richmond, VA and I have heard nothing from him since except that I rec'd a letter from him stating that he was wounded in the breast. The letter was destroyed by the burning of my dwelling house. E. H. Eady, Sand Hill, GA January 4, 1896 Application for Widow's Heretofore Allowed Pensions State of Georgia, County of Carroll Personally comes Mrs. E.H. Eady who being sworn on oath says that she is a bona fide resident of Carroll County, State of Georgia, that she is the widow of A.H. Eady who was a soldier in Company _ of the 4th Regiment of GA Vols., that he lost his life as follows: He was wounded in battle and died in a hospital from said wound. I don't remember the exact date of his death but it was not long after he was wounded. E.H. Eady, Sand Hill, GA. January 21, 1901 Application for Widow's Heretofore Allowed Pensions State of Georgia, County of Carroll Personally comes, Mrs. E.H. Eady, who being duly sworn on oath, says that she is a bona fide resident of said County of Carroll, State of Georgia, and that she is the widow of A.H. Eady who was a soldier in Co. I of the 4th Regiment of GA Volunteers. That he lost his life on the __ day of February 1865 as follows: Wounded in battle in Virginia. Captured and carried to Washington, D.C., placed in prison. We heard from him only one time stating that he was shot through the right breast and right thigh. Has never been heard from since. E. H.
