He was a son of Henry Eady and Elizabeth Gay (daughter of Revolutionary soldier Allen Gay). Although Allen Hill Eady is not found on any census in 1850 it is known that he was in Carroll County by that time. He and his mother Elizabeth are shown as charter members of the Upper Tallapoosa Baptist Church in 1847. He also gave the land for the Temperance Church at Sand Hill. Allen married Edna Hampton West in Carroll Co. in 1851. See article on the William West family. Allen Eady served in the Confederacy and was mortally wounded in the Battle of Petersburg. He was taken prisoner and treated at Lincoln General Hospital where he died April 10, 1865. His burial place is unknown but is probably Arlington Cemetery. He wrote his will on the battlefield. The Eady family lived in Wilkinson County, during the war but after the war their home burned which may have caused them to return to Carroll to be near Edna's family and remain there. Allen and Edna Eady had five children: 1. Thomas Allen Eady (1852 - 1909) married Mary Virginia Dickson and settled in the Bowdon area. He is buried at Smith's Chapel. (Note: I think this should say William Allen Eady instead of Thomas Allen Eady ?) 2. John Thomas Eady (1854 - 1937). 3. Mary Elizabeth Eady (1856 - 1883) never married and is buried at Macedonia. 4. Martha Ann (1858) married Tampton Hulsey. 5. Robert (1860) died in infancy. **************************************************** This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 11.9 Kb
