Warren hereby submits her proofs and after being duly sworn, makes true answers to the following questions: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? C. J. Warren resides in Carroll Co. GA, Plowshare P.O. 2. How long and since when have you been a resident of this state? 3 years 3. When and where were you born? 1834, Carroll Co., GA 4. When and where was your husband born, state his full name and when were you and he married? 1826, Henry Co., GA. John Castlebery Warren. Married 1850 in Carroll Co., GA. 5. When and where and in what company did your husband enlist or serve during the war between the states? 13 Oct 1861 in Carroll Co., GA, Co. B 56th Regt. GA Volunteers. 6. How long did your husband serve in said Company and Regiment? from enlistment until wounded in 1864. 7. When and where did your husband's Company and Regiment surrender and was discharged? I don't remember 8. Was your husband present at the time and place when his Company and Regiment surrendered? No, he was at home wounded. 9. If not with his command at surrender, state clearly and specifically where he was, when he left command for what cause and by what authority? He was at home wounded unable to return to his command. 10. When and where did your husband die? Dec 11, 1894 in Cleburne County, Alabama. 11. Which of the following grounds you make your application for pension; age and poverty, infirmity and povery or blindness and poverty? Age and poverty. 12. If upon the first ground, how long have you been in such condition? Been unable to labor to support myself for several years. 13. What has your occupation been since your husband's death? any kind of housework that I was able to do. 14. How much can your earn by your own exertion or labor? But very little. 15. What property, real or personal or income do you have? Have no property 16. What property real or personal did you possess at the time of your husband's death or that he left you, and what disposition by sale was made of it? He left me a little stock but the same has been consumed for any support. 17. In what counties did you reside in 1899 and 1900 and what property did you return for taxation? Carroll County, GA. Returned no property. 18. How have you been supported since the death of your husband and in 1899 and 1900? By what I could do and the help of my children. 19. How much did your support cost for each of those years and how much do you contribute by your own labor or income? About $75. Contributed very little. 20. What was your employment during 1899 and 1900 and how much did you receive for each year. Mostly knitting. But very little. 21. Have you a family, and if so who composes such family? Give their means of support. Have they any lands or other property? Have no family with me except one that I am staying with. 22. Have you ever made application for pension before? Yes. 23. How may applications have you made for pension and under which class? One under the Act of 1890. C. J. Warren Feb'y 26, 1901 S.J. Brown, Ordinary of Carroll County Question for Witnesses State of Georgia, Carroll County J. B. Martin of said state and county having presented as a witness in support of the application of Mrs. C. J. Warren, after being duly sworn, gives true answers to the following questions: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? I reside near Carrollton in Carroll County, GA. My name is J.B. Martin. 2. Are you acquainted with the applicant, Mrs. C. J. Warren? If so, how long have you known her? About 60 years. 3. Where does she reside and how long and since when has she been a resident of this state? In Carroll County she has resided continuously since Dec 1897. 4. Where and when was she born? In Carroll Co. in 1834. 5. Were you acquainted with her husband? Yes. 6. Where did he reside in 1861? In Carroll Co., GA 7. When and to whom did he marry? Dec 1850 to Miss C. J. Michael 8. Where and when was he born? I think it was Henry Co., GA 9. How long have you known him? 50 years 10. Where and when did John C. Warren enlist in the war between the states and in what Company and Regiment did he enlist and how do you know this? He enlisted in Oct 1861 in Carroll County, GA Co. D 3rd GA Regt, served six months then transferred to Co. B 56th GA Reg't til the close of the war. 11. Were you a member of the said Company and Regiment? I was Capt. of both Companies. 12. How long did he perform military duty? He was wounded at Resaca in summer of 1864. He was sent to Savanah hospital from Reseca and remained there till ?? 1865 and sent home on fulough and remained on furlough till close of war 1865. 13. When and where was his Company and Regiment surrendered and discharged from service? In 1865 in NC. 14. Were you with the command when it surrendered? No. 15. Was John C. Warren the husband of applicant, present (at surrender?) No, he was never able to return after the battle of Resaca in 1864. 16. If not present, where was he (at surrender?) At home on furlough 17. When and where did he leave his Command? In 1864 at Resaca, GA. For what cause? On account of wound and disease. By whose authority did he leave? By authority of Surgeons and Officers. How do you know this? I was Capt. of both companies I served in Co. B until Dec 1864. 18. When and where did John C. Warren die? I understand that he died in Ala. 19. Where did he reside at his death and how long had he been a resident of Georgia at his death. In Ala. He resided in Georgie all of his life until 1885. 20. Do you have your own knowledge that the applicant is the lawful widow of John C. Warren? Yes, I was at their wedding. 21. Has she remained a widow since his death? Yes. 22. What property has the applicant? I don't know. I think she has very little, if any. 23. What property or income did the applicant possess in 1899 and 1900? I don't know. 24. Has the applicant conveyed any property in the last two years or given any away? I don't know. 25. What is the applicant's physical condition and her chances or ability to earn a support?
