His life according to his account has been full of adventure. He has served in three wars--- the war of 1812 - --The Indian war of '36 and the late war. Notwithstanding his advanced age he gets about very well." (note by transcriber: Name should be Conroy). Carroll 1850-1870 and 1880 census (1880 shows him as 105 years old). The only war record I can find is where he served as a private in the Civil War in 1862. Company " H " 41st.
