Bonner, daughter of Gay and Pathie Upchurch was born May 1833; professed religion and joined the Protestant Methodist church about the time she was grown; married to John Bonner on Sept. 3, 1857 and soon after joined the Methodist E. Church of which he was a member; and died of typhoid- pneumonia on January 13, 1881. She practiced her marital vows; she obeyed, loved, honored an kept her husband in sickness and in health and in all their interests it seemed as they were one. Both to her own and her stepchildren she was a mother, ever ready to make self sacrifices, giving up her own ease and comfort for their well being, teaching them lessons in obedience, virtue and morality and religion. She was a neighbor after the bible with a hand of charity in her efforts to relieve the sick, help the weary and supply the destitute. She fell a victim to the disease that proved fatal. But the characterizing fact of her life was that she was a christian, a devoted servant of the Master. Among her friends, the social circle, around the fireside at home with her husband and children, in the community as a neighbor, in the church worshipping God, the ruling motice was approbation of the Master. The Master came, she was ready, the account was rendered, all was well. The Master pplauded, "well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord." W.H.
