GARRISON Died at her father's residence in Henderson, Texas on April 4, 1881, Ada L. Garrison. The deceased was born in Carrollton, Georgia on Sept. 2, 1863. When she was yet a child her father moved to Athens, Alabama where she was educated, graduating at Athens Female College in June 1880. Soon afterward she left home to visit relatives in Henderson, Texas, to which place her father moved to a few weeks before her death. Truly "The King of Shadows loves a shining mark". Young and accomplished as she was, just stepping upon the threshold of womanhood, it seemed almost unnatural that she should fall so early a victim to death. She had ever seemed such a picture of health that at first the cough and the paling cheeks awakened no apprehension among her friends. But now she is gone and gloom settles over the household where she was wont to move, and sorrow dims the eye and pales the cheek of those who loved her through life, unto death, and into eternity. When told that she could not recover, she said calmly, "I am not afraid to die." She was, if there be such a thing here, a consistent christian. Earth never held a purer spirit, nor heaven claimed a brighter jewel. Dearest Ada, our darling child and sister, slowly, sadly, bitterly, we turn from the new made grave and take up again the burden of life, yet trusting to meet thee in the great beyond where sorrow is a myth, and parting cannot be. -------- NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, APRIL 29, 1881 LOCAL News Albert Sharp was taken quite sick last Wednesday at his store and had to be carried home. ---- SHOAL CREEK News We learn from Mr. Spencer Moore that Mr. and Mrs. Andy Kelley of Douglas are very ill.
