Mr. Akin was returning from a pasture a short distance from his home, located near Bowdon College, early Monday morning when the accident occurred. He was knocked down by the automobile, which he was said to have walked directly in front of, and thrown on the hood, his head hitting the windshield. The driver of the truck, owned by an Anniston, Ala. produce firm, was absolved from blame in the mishap, authorities state. Mr. Akin who was 41 years of age, is survived by his widow and two children.
