She passed away much as she had lived, peaceful and quiet. "Aunt Tex", or " Granny Bass," as she was commonly called, was before her marriage, Miss Texas Johnson, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Jackson Johnson. At the age of twenty years she was married to Mr. William Jaley, "Pink" Bass. This union was blessed with twelve children. She joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Oak Grove and was baptised by Rev. J. L. Williams. In later years she moved membership to Little Vine Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death called her . Although ill health of herself and other members of her family together with long distance kept her from attending services of the church she loved. We have testimonials to bear out the fact that her mind and heart's desires were with us and that her payers were constantly going up in behalf of Little Vine Church. Her remains were gently deposited to rest in Little Vine cemetery. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. Willie Thompson, Rev. J.M. & J. C. Campbell. She is survived by seven children, sixty two grandchildren, ninety three great-grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. Her husband and five children having preceded her to the grave. After having been unconscious for quite a while she suddenly revived and addressing a son in law who stood near she said, "Thank God, he has given me power to see and to talk." She then gave them a good and sweet talk by calling each one of her children seperately and admonished with a mother's advice to trust in God and portray the love of Jesus in their hearts. She said she was ready to go and was simply waiting to go to sleep. We feel that a good christian soul, and heir to the throne has gone from our midst leaving an empty place that will never be filled. She has fought a good fight, she has kept the faith, henceforth there is a crown laid up for her. For they shall rest from their labours and their works shall follow them. Resolved that a copy of this memorial be placed upon our church records, and one sent to our county paper for publication.
