DEATH OF MRS. BOYD
Villa Rica, Ga., April 27. — (Special) — Mrs. Nancy Boyd died at her daughter's
residence, Mrs. J.R. Pope, yesterday morning. Mrs. Boyd was eighty-seven years
of age. Mrs. Boyd was a good woman. She leaves the following children: Robert,
John  D., Dr. Wesley Boyd, of Alabama, and George W. and Mrs. John R. Pope. They
are all good citizens. The funeral took place at Powell's chapel.


Additional Comments:
This is Nancy Hopper Boyd, wife of Hugh Boyd, and daughter-in-law of Robert Boyd
and Rosannah Stewart. Her parents were John and Mary Hopper of Newberry, S.C.
Nancy and Hugh were married in South Carolina and moved from Newberry to the Mt.
Carmel area (Upper Ninth District) of Meriwether County, GA. in the late 1820s.
They appear there in 1830, 1840 and 1850. They moved to Carroll County between
1850 and 1860 and settled in the Villa Rica area. If Nancy is buried at Powell's
Chapel where her funeral took place, her grave is unmarked. Neither is there a
grave marker for her husband, Hugh Boyd. Many family members of this Boyd family
are buried at Powell's Chapel.
