Burial followed in the Antioch Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Sorrells died Friday, May 31, 2002 at her residence. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sorrells was a native of Upson County. She had been employed in the Lakeside and Finishing divisions of Thomaston Mills. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Henry G. Sorrells of Thomaston; daughters, Sheri Burkett and Lisa Wheeler, both of Thomaston; a step- daughter, Barbara Barbie of Montgomery, Ala.; sons, Eddie Wheeler and Rodney Wheeler, both of Thomaston; a step-son, Kenneth Sorrells of Thomaston; a brother, Doug Hammond of Meansville; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Pike County, but had resided in Upson County for most of her life. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Bain PROCTOR JR., 58, of Griffin, were held Friday, June 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home with Major Larry Hambrick of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr Proctor died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the Piedmont Hospital. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home of Griffin was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Proctor was born in Upson County on Oct. 11, 1943 to the late Walter Bain Proctor Sr. and the late Pauline Gilbert Proctor. He was the owner/operator of the Bain Proctor's State Farm Ins. Agency in Griffin. MR. PROCTOR WAS A VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY HAVING SERVED DURING THE VIETNAM WAR. He was very active, concerned and loved his community, having served as a city commissioner and county commissioner. He served on many boards, some of which were the Salvation Army, Industrial Development, Griffin-Spalding County Recreational Board, and just recently, with the State of Georgia Recreational Board. He also served on many committees such as the American Cancer Society and the Vietnam Wall Experience. Mr. Proctor worked with the boys and girls at the Salvation Army. He was the sports announcer for the Griffin High Bears for over 20 years, the Chairman of the Spalding County Republicans, an active member of the Griffin-Spalding Co. Chamber of Commerce and the Griffin Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carole W. Proctor; sons, Mr. Walter Bain Proctor III of Atlanta and Mr. Daniel W. (Cathy) Proctor of Griffin; a daughter, Ms. Heather Proctor of Griffin; mother-in-law, Martha Wilder of Thomaston; and an aunt, Mrs. Lila Proctor-Joiner of Thomaston. He was a good friend to everyone. Memorial services for Mr. George Melvin SPILLERS, 75, of Reidsville, N.C., were held Thursday, June 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Lexington, N.C. Mr. Spillers died Monday, June 3, 2002 at his residence. Citty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Spillers was a native of Butler, Ga. He was the son of the late George Washington and Julie Elizabeth Hortman Spillers. He had lived in Reidsville since 1982, moving there from Lexington, N.C. He attended grade school in Ideal, Ga., was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston, a graduate of Middle Ga. College in Cochran and he graduated with a BA degree in business administration from the University of Ga. in Athens. Mr. Spillers was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving Germany. She was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church and the WMU at Clark's Chapel. Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hugh Dickerson and one son, Mr. Billy Dickerson. Survivors include her sons, Mr. Richard Dickerson, Mr. Grover Dickerson of Titusville, Fla. and Mr. Ray Dickerson, Mr. Tim Dickerson, Mr. Tony Dickerson and Mr. Mark Dickerson, all of Thomaston; daughters, Mrs. Deborah Denton of Thomaston and Mrs. Shirley Johnson of Manchester; brothers, Mr. Mitchell Smith of Thomaston and Mr. Chester Smith of Tennessee; sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Bedford of Thomaston and Mrs. Lucille Kinsler of Dahlonega; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Mr. Goolsby was a native of Pleasant Hill in Talbot County and a resident of Griffin since 1969. HE WAS AN ARMY VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II. He was a retired machinist with the Kawneer Company in Jonesboro. Mr. Goolsby was a member of the First Congregational Methodist Church in Griffin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle T. Goolsby; a daughter, Rebecca Mitchell; and two sons, Thomas and Donald (Butch) Gooslby. Survivors include his wife, Azalea Goolsby of Griffin; a daughter, Sharon Hilderbrand of The Rock; a son, Steve E. Goolsby of Griffin; sisters, Eula McGee and Ruthelle Watson, both of Thomaston and Martha Taunton of Beuna Park, Calif.; a brother, James Goolsby of Gainesville; his former wife, Elsie Jackson of Griffin; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Parker was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Marie Gilham of Rock Mills, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Parker of Thomaston; a son, Mr. David Parker of Thomaston; brothers, Mr. Forrest Hale of Pelham and Mr. Milton Hale of Centerville; granddaughters, Mrs. Wendy Bates of Monroe and Mrs. Donna DeWitt and Mrs. Allison Roulerson of Eatonton; grandsons, Mr. Scott Parker of Thomaston and Mr. Tracy Gilham of Roanoke, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren.
