At Ripe age of 88 Mrs. Sallie Nixon, age 88, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. R. Borders, 18 Coleman street, Monday afternoon following an illness of one week. Mrs. Nixon was born in Carroll county, Dec. 19, 1857, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kempson. She was a lifelong resident of Carroll county. As a young lady she joined the Lutheran Church in Coweta county, but later joined the Smyrna Methodist Church, where she was a member at her death. About 64 years ago, she was married to G. Page Nixon, who died 15 years ago. Three children preceded her in death, Jasper and Eula, who died a number of years ago, and a daughter who died in infancy. Survivors are two sons, Virgil Nxon of Carrollton, Route 1 and Earl Nixon of Carrollton, Route 5; two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Borders of Carrollton and Mrs. Martha McClung of Carrolton Route 5; eight grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, and one brother, George Kempson of Leoma, Tenn. Funeral services were held from the Smyrna Methodist Church on Tuesday at 3 p.m., with Rev. E. Nash Broyles officiating. Pallbearers were Irvin Mote, Ulas Long, Bill Carter, Lucius Stallings, Floyd Stallings, Lawrence Nixon. Interment was in the churchyard.
