      Mrs. Martha Durrett Died October 31 in 89th Year

     Mrs. Martha Hayes Durrett, age 89, of Temple, Route 1, passed away 
October 31 in an Atlanta hospital after an illness of four days.  
     She was born in Carroll County on May 7, 1868, the daughter of the late 
Mr. and Mrs. Jasper P. Hayes.  Her husband, Mr. A.J. Durrett, preceded her in 
death 30 years ago.  She was a devoted member of the Temple Methodist Church.
     She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H.L. Adcock and Miss Dovie 
Durrett of Temple; Mrs. Joe L. McBrayer, of Bremen; one son, Mr. O.L. Durrett 
of Temple; two sisters, Mrs. Will Brooks of Villa Rica, and Mrs. Annie 
Fincher, of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-
great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  
     Funeral services were held last Friday, November 1st, at 2:30 p.m. from 
the Temple Methodist Church, with Rev. Frank Dorris and Rev. C.B. Shultz 
officiating.  
     Appropriate music was under the direction of Mr. Ben Merritt.  
     The following gentlemen served as pall bearers:  Mr. J.M. Hayes, Mr. J.B. 
Hayes, Mr. J.E. Reid, Mr. E.W. Durrett, Mr. G.M. Durrett and Mr. R.E. 
Hardin.   
     Interment was in Asbury Cemetery in Temple with Jones Funeral Home of 
Villa Rica in charge of the arrangements.
